Tarabband hosts some of the most established musicians from the Swedish folk and world music scene. Finally, the renowned Malmö band releases its debut record. Ya Sidi contains 10 newly written songs in Arabic. An English booklet with the lyrics is enclosed.
Tarabband combines groove and sweetness and the voice of the singer Nadin goes straight to the heart. The music travels from Baghdad via Cairo to Malmö, it mixes Sufism with pop and folk music and settles in Tarab, the common denominator. Tarab is an Arabic term for the ecstasy that can appear when music and emotions merges.
Several years ago, Nadin, the singer of the band, left Iraq for Sweden. In Tarabband she narrates the story of the journey from the homeland to the life in exile and of her rebirth.
