Among the members, leader Gilbert Holmström's tenor saxophone really shines. His fresh style, influenced by Coltrane, and powerful solos that are unexpected from a white musician are his charm. The trumpet is somewhat reminiscent of Don Cherry in his early career, and the piano has a distinctly white, lyrical, and intellectual feel. At the time, Scandinavia lagged behind Britain and Germany in terms of innovation within Europe, but this group was a pioneering band alongside Eje Thelin and Hugh Steinmetz. (Text by Akio Hoshino)
